Classical Education

Picture
St. Raphael School offers classical and liberal arts courses in the Orthodox tradition. St. Raphael School is now part of Scholé Academy!

Many homeschool students are educated with what is called a Classical Education. A Classical Education was the only method used in Western Civilization for more than two thousand years.

Classical education produced Plato, Aristotle, Dante, Leonardo da Vinci, Galileo, Sir Isaac Newton, and Shakespeare. It is a proven method that prepares a child to understand the world and to think about the world critically.

A classical Education allows the student to join what Mortimer Adler calls the “Great Conversation” — the ongoing conversation of great minds down through the ages.

Dual Enrollment for Homeschool Students - High School & College at the same time.
This opportunity allows students to start taking college classes online while in high school. This is a great advantage. You don't have to worry about national tests (like the SAT) that only measure 1% of intelligence. Available through a collaboration between St Raphael/ Schole Academy and the University of St Katherine.

"One can tell that the pronunciation of Koine Greek that is commonly taught is incorrect, by the written mistakes made in ancient manuscripts. These mistakes reveal that a more accurate pronunciation would closer to modern Greek."
Evie Holmberg is Professor of Classics and Ecclesiastical/Patristic Greek Language and Literature at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Seminary.
